Product Practice

Product Practice

Over the years, I’ve developed a distinctive product practice — blending product management, strategic design, user research, and product design into a unified approach.

These tools and templates were originally published under Pebble, a product studio I founded and ran for several years. While Pebble has since closed its studio doors, my mission continues: to develop and share an ever-evolving product practice that helps shape better products.

Deep-Dives & Playbooks

Some concepts deserve a proper deep dive to do them justice. In this section, I share longer-form pieces that unpack the ins and outs of particular topics I find interesting.

The River

The River is my take on the end-to-end product and design process.

It is a framework for guiding ideas from high-level concept to successful product in market. It’s the core structure I return to time and again, and the foundation upon which I’ve built my entire product approach.

The version shared here was developed some time ago — but a new edition is on its way.

Workspaces

Workspaces are structured environments, purpose-built to help you take action. Each workspace is packed with ready-to-use templates that guide you through specific product challenges — whether you’re kicking off a new product or pushing the boundaries of an existing one. They’re designed to help you move faster, think deeper, and make meaningful progress.

Product HQ

The place to shape your product.

The Product HQ is your central space for exploring, articulating, and evolving your team’s point of view on the product at hand.

It helps turn scattered thoughts into shared understanding — structuring early thinking and aligning everyone around what you’re building, why it matters, and where it’s going.

The version shared was developed some time ago — but a new edition is on its way.

Research HQ

The place to test your assumptions.

The Research HQ is a dedicated space to surface the assumptions behind your product — and design research to test, challenge, and deepen your understanding of the product, your users, and the broader landscape.

This workspace mirrors the Product HQ — a complementary space built to sharpen your thinking and help you craft better, more informed products.

Tools & Frameworks

These are the building blocks of my product practice — clear, actionable templates designed to help you think, plan, and build. From user research to product strategy, these tools are built for speed and clarity, so you can focus on what matters: making progress. Whether you’re working solo or with a team, these templates are made to drop in, adapt, and get you moving.

Product Cascades

The Product Cascade framework builds on the DVF model — using a first-principles approach to break down the idea of a “great product” into a cascading structure of tangible, actionable components.

It serves as a more effective mental model and a practical scaffold for ongoing product thinking, prioritisation, and decision-making.

Forming & Testing POV

This framework breaks product creation into two core activities: forming a point of view (shaping users, ideas, and concepts) and testing that view (through feedback, validation, and iteration). The task of a product team is to move between these two steps continuously.

It’s a simple but powerful rhythm — and a useful lens for navigating uncertainty.

Product Terminology

In product work, the same terms often mean different things — and different terms get used for the same ideas. It creates confusion, slows teams down, and muddies the work.

Shared language leads to clearer thinking and better collaboration. This framework offers a common terminology to navigate complexity and build great products, services, and experiences — together.
